Course Overview
This 100-hour online synchronous and asynchronous course will continue over the span of two years. All coursework and practicum follow the curriculum set forth by the Orton-Gillingham Academy. Topics include:
morphology instruction
incorporating grammar
teaching written language skills
case management
working with complex student profiles
OG for multi-language learners (mll)
the reading brain
neurobiological underpinnings of dyslexia
Who Should Take This Course?
Participants must be Associate members by July 1, 2024, in order to participate.
Prerequisites
Associate Level membership in the Orton-Gillingham Academy
Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
Proof of a current background check (as required by the OGA) - a resource can be provided upon request
Computer with camera and microphone, as well as high-speed, reliable internet connection

Dates:
July 23rd and 24th (9:30 am – 3:00 pm EST)
Additional synchronous sessions will be completed throughout the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years. Dates are to be determined.
Required with this course is a commitment to the 200-lesson practicum, including ten observations by the supervising Fellows and/or Fellow-in-Training.
Individuals seeking Certified Level certification through the Orton-Gillingham Academy may apply to the Academy after the successful completion of the 100-hour course and 200-hour practicum.
Cost
Coursework Fee: $2,400
Practicum Fee: $3,000
$300/observation, paid on a per observation basis
